Where and when did you start rping?
I suppose it was really Rey that got me into it, and I RPed for a lark on IRC with Bridgie and a handful of others, some fifteen years ago or so. I tend to be wordy in my narrative, so I didn't like IRC as a vehicle for it, but I've found better ways for text-based RP since.

Do you rp anywhere other than lj?
We play in notebooks quite a bit, with each other. Sometimes those games are connected to LJ RP and are typed up and posted later, more often they're just entertaining encounters of 'what happens if X meets X?' that sometimes peter out quickly, and other times fill several notebooks.

Do you play in any public games?
LJ is public, but apart from that... I still do IRC occasionally, but it doesn't lend itself well to more serious RP.

Do you prefer first-person comment spam or prose logging?
I prefer prose, but I find myself doing pure text with The Shadow sometimes because it would be very out of continuity for him to be there in person. I find playing him that way mildly interesting, because he's more likely to come off as brusque and straightforward and even a little harsh. Of course then I worry people will take that the wrong way. I'd generally prefer prose because I'm a writer, I suppose, and there's so much more I want to say than just the dialogue.

What was the first character you ever played?
Ye gods, I'm really not sure. Probably some odd version of myself because I didn't quite comprehend how it was all supposed to work.

Who's your favorite character to play now and why?
The Shadow is my latest passion, partly because I found someone to properly bounce him off of and do plots with. He's challenging, because he's not personable at all, and I have to work at writing him well, but the people I've played him with always seem to try to make him look good, which helps maintain the power and mystique of the character.

What's the longest you've ever consistently played one character?
Probably Thorn wins that record, although I've fallen off playing him and I feel badly for that. He was designed specifically to be put into the Dear Multiverse/Sages of Chaos setting, and to be a very trans formative character, and he's worked well. I suppose perhaps I've come so far in altering and revealing things about him that I see a brick wall looming not far ahead in his development, and that's scared me off him.

What's your biggest rp pet peeve?
I really don't know. I like RP but it is, in the end, a game.

Do you read rp secrets and the rp anon meme?
No. I'm not sure what those are.

If you've played in public before, do you prefer community based or journal based games?
I like community games, because there's such an interesting variety of people, but I always come back down to journal games with just a few people I know well. Knowing you're going to get back the same level of well-worded, well thought-out interaction is rewarding.

Would you rather play with someone who's very very ic but a mediocre writer or someone who isn't always ic (but not terrible) and a great writer?
I'd like to say that I'm easy-going about these things, and I think I am by and large, but good writing always feeds me and I know I'm drawn to it. I'd have to say that I usually find the qualities of well-played characters and good writing to be concurrent, though.

Do you have a "rp partner"?
I suppose as of late it's the girl that plays Myra, the more conventional Shadow, and Ichi. I didn't mean for it to happen that way, but she's simply an excellent writer who plays characters that interact well with mine. She's been busy with school recently, and I miss the RP, but I should be doing something more productive anyway.
That said, the girls are my longtime RP partners, particularly Bridgie. We have characters with established histories and relationships that have never touched LJ.

Do you ever stalk any casts, games, or players? who?
Not really, although I've poked my head in to read some other games of characters I'm very familiar with, but it's not a habit.

In your opinion, which part of an app is the most difficult/annoying?
The part where people aren't clear on what it is they want from me.

Are you one of those people who has to customize their character's journal layout and userinfo?
Oh yes, if I'm going to be looking at it a great deal, I want it to be nice to look at and easy to read. I tend to bribe artist friends if I can, but I'm getting quite good at basic editing and altering of existing images in Adobe Photoshop.

What was your first game?
I don't know, but the one that springs to mind was an IRC game, with the character Bridgie's nickname hails from, in a medieval setting. She ended up bringing in plot from the 'Dark is Rising' series by Susan Cooper, which I hadn't read until then, and it was a very long and wonderful game. I suppose I remember it well because I think we fell in love over the course of it, between the lines, in the OOC conversations that ran alongside.

Are there any canons you avoid tagging characters from?
I respond in Dear Multiverse to questions that I can see might interest my characters, and only avoid them if there's something specific about the writing that turns me off. I suppose the short answer is no?

Most memorable scene in any thread?
That's too hard to say. There's been some really wonderful stuff with Janitor Thorn, though. I feel in some ways he ended up a more interesting character than the original.

Do you rp sex?
Only with Bridgie, in notebooks.

Do you play more males or females?
Males, I'd be afraid I wouldn't know how to play a woman, although I've written them on occasion.

What won't you rp?
I haven't really been tested in that regard, but I suppose I'd balk at anything that involved active abuse, of any kind.

Dressing rooms: yes or no?
I'm not sure what that is, so I couldn't say.

Ever rped a pairing?
If that means both sides, then no. I can't see where that would be terribly interesting, really.

Favorite place to play: musebox, open posts, public games, private games?
I suppose I prefer games that are private, in the sense that they're some specific scene established with specific characters beforehand. Open posts are entertaining, but they're a different level of RP.

Talking rp with someone else who plays your character: fun or awkward?
I'm terribly amused by Myra's player having another Shadow. We've talked OOC, and we seem to have a very similar take on the character, but we're approaching him at such different stages in his life that it makes things wonderfully interesting when they get together. I fear she may play him better, though, in the end.

A. List seven habits/quirks/facts about yourself.
B. Tag seven people to do the same.
C. Do not tag the person who tagged you or say that you tag "whoever wants to do it".

I shan't be tagging anyone, I fear I am so terribly late that the fad has passed.
1. I don't like being mistaken for British, even though I know the accent is.
2. I tend to put my characters for real writing and my characters for RP into two very separate categories, and I am only just starting to let them overlap.
3. I feel slightly childish about writing fan fiction.
4. I enjoy writing, but inspiration comes very hard for me.
5. I'm not nearly as good at spelling as you'd think.
6. I feel guilty for having come to prefer writing on the computer to writing on the typewriter, which is currently sitting boxed and neglected beside it.
7. I find it amusing that people seem to think I'm a gentleman, and my tea-drinking habits only encourage it. I suppose this is because I've fallen out of contact with many of the people who knew me better when I was living on coffee, scotch, and a steady diet of stress.
